Liu Young’s East meets West icons

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I found these icons the other day on JeonjuHub.com  done by designer, Liu Young. She was born in China and raised in Germany. Some argue these are China meets Germany icons. I don’t know, I guess they could be. They’re stereotypes anyway and simplifications of diverse groups. I thought they were clever and interesting. They made me think about my experiences in different countries. I’ll let you guess what color represents what.

Getting bored with my camera , I gave it a makeover. If you own a Canon Rebel Xti/400 camera and would like to give it a similar makeover visit my instructional tutorial at eHow (will be posted soon). Pictures, parts sheets and pictures are also provided.

*Warning: You must love the thrill of risk (of turning your $camera into trash), not mind voiding your perfectly good warranty, and enjoy blowing an entire weekend by unscrewing a hundred tiny screws.

It’s bricante season in France. I guess you could say its when France cleans out its closets. Townspeople get together and have a huge sale. I can’t say if its all over France but at least in the northern part, there were bricantes going on each weekend. (There’s a regional guide book for this.)

This weekend I went out to see what I would discover. I found the one above there. The owner initially said 50 euros, then came down to 30 euros. I couldn’t do it. Perhaps if I had returned at the end of the day I would have got a cheaper price. Instead, I decided to take a picture. It was impressive.  This was no painting. This ouvre d’art was crosstitched. Click on it to get the finer details. Wow!
